Wednesday of Holy Week

A meditation on the abundant love and giving of the woman who annoints Jesus in the house of Simon at the end of Mark's Gospel.   The Gospel writer tells us that she broke the bottle and poured costly perfume on Jesus.  We're also told that such generosity scandalised some of the disciples.

This forms one part of a triptych where the widow who gives all she has to live on in offering at the temple and the woman who annoints Jesus form the model for and surround Jesus breaking bread.
